Pre-show article in Connecticut Post, Oct. 19, 2017:
Guns N’ Roses rocks the XL Center in Hartford

By Linda Tuccio-Koonz

Guns N’ Roses brings its “Not In This Lifetime Tour” to the XL Center in Hartford on Monday, Oct. 23. Fans can expect a high-energy show with hits from “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Civil War” to “Paradise City.”

The tour kicked off July 27 in St. Louis, where the band played more than three hours for a crowd of nearly 40,000 fans. Along with singer-songwriter Axl Rose and Slash on lead guitar, current members are Duff McKagan on bass, Richard Fortus on rhythm guitar, Frank Ferrer on drums, and Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese on keyboards.

Guns N’ Roses has been rocking since 1985. The band, which formed in Los Angeles, caught the world’s attention with its 1987 debut album, “Appetite for Destruction.” Fueled by such top-10 hits as “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” it spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and went on to sell about 30 million copies.

More albums followed. The critically acclaimed “Chinese Democracy” came out in 2008, and though the lineup has changed over the years, fans still can’t seem to get enough of GNR’s music.

Earlier this month, Loudwire.com said GNR’s summer 2017 tour earned $53 million, according to Billboard Boxscore. Loudwire.com also said the tour was the most popular and highest grossing global tour of 2017, across the board, according to Pollstar.

XL Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza, Hartford. Monday, Oct. 23, 7:30 p.m. $250, $135, $99, $59. 877-522-8499
