In 2010 as noted on this very site, Steven said that the initial plan for a sixth member was to be a keyboardist/piano player named “Howard.”

I strongly believe that this indicates that Howard Teman was that man.

Howard Teman is a little known figure in GNR lore, but ironically he was the first person to play piano on a Guns N’ Roses record (not counting the synths on PC): The outro piano work on One in A Million is by Teman, in 1988.

He also would play piano on So Fine.

It’s my belief as such given Steven’s comments that there was a plan to bring Teman in as their sixth member, but Axl decided on Dizzy instead.

What's the source for this?

He's credited for percussion on Lies. And he doesn't say anything about piano here:
